Andrei Markov Not Returning To Canadiens

Andrei Markov will not return next season to the Montreal Canadiens, the only team he has played for in his 16 seasons in the league.

He is scheduled to speak on a conference call Thursday afternoon.

Markov, 38, was the longest-tenured player on the team and an alternate captain last season. The two-time All-Star had six goals and 36 points and was plus-18.

The Bruins and center Ryan Spooner avoided arbitration on the day of their hearing, agreeing to a one-year, $2,825,000 deal on Wednesday.

Mark Streit Agrees To Join Canadiens

The Canadiens have agreed to terms with veteran defenseman Mark Streit, who is returning to the team that launched his NHL career.

According to multiple reports, Streit gets a $700,000 base salary but can earn $300,000 more in bonuses.

"If someone told me 10 years ago that I'd be back playing with the Canadiens ... It's a dream," Streit said, according to the Canadiens' Twitter feed.

Johnny Oduya Signs One-Year, $1M Deals with Senators

Defenseman Johnny Oduya has signed a one-year, $1 million contract with the Senators that includes bonus provisions that could add up to another $1.25 million.

He can achieve bonuses for games played, time on the ice and various playoff incentives.

Oduya, 35, had two goals and nine points in 52 games last season between the Stars and Blackhawks.

Rangers General Manager Jeff Gorton announced today that the team has agreed to terms with free agent goaltender Alexandar Georgiev.

Georgiev, 21, appeared in 27 games with TPS Turku of Liiga in Finland this past season, posting a 13-8-4 record, along with a 1.70 GAA, a .923 SV%, and two shutouts. He established Liiga career-bests in appearances, wins, GAA, and SV%, and tied his career-high in shutouts in 2016-17.

The Senators avoided arbitration with restricted free-agent forward Jean-Gabriel Pageau on Monday by agreeing to terms on a $9.3 million, three-year contract.

The 24-year-old center will earn $2.6 million next season, $3.3 million in 2018-19 and $3.4 million in 2019-20.

Pageau had eight playoff goals last spring, and had 12 goals and 21 assists in 82 regular-season games.

The Ducks announced today that the club has signed forward Dennis Rasmussen to a one-year contract through the 2017-18 season.

Per club policy, no financial terms of the deal were disclosed. Rasmussen, 27, has collected 8-9=17 points with a +5 rating and 16 penalty minutes (PIM) in 112 career NHL games with the Blackhawks. He played the entire 2016-17 season with the Blackhawks, recording 4-4=8 points with 12 PIM in 68 games.
